Singer-composer and author Devi
Rosado of Westfall Township has
just released her independently
produced "Take Me Away" CD,
which was done at the SOHO, New
York studio working with the
same engineers who engineered a
Mariah Cary CD, on a session
that was publicized in the
recent issue of "Mix" magazine.
Devi (Rosado's professional
name) has already received two
positive responses from major
labels. Her Latin-pop style also
bundles stylistic elements found
in World Music and Reggae.
Besides the CD, Devi has written
a mystery novella, "Red Light,
Green Light," which will be
released in September and has
started work on her second CD.

It is said frequently that
falling in love is the easiest way to learn a new
language. The phrase applies perfectly to Devi Rosado.
With an inborn musical talent, Devi, born in
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, sung in the school chorus
when she was a child. She always adored Hispano-American
culture; the music, the climate, the ambience, the
percussion, the sound of the guitar and piano in Latin
rhythms, all of these attracted her. As a teenager, she
met the man, William, of Mexican background who would
later become her husband. From that moment on, Devi
affirms that she “became so impressed with Latin music
that I began to learn the language through its songs.”
One day, fifteen years ago, William was strumming the
song “A Prayer” on his guitar, and Devi began to sing it
in Spanish. This was the beginning of a dream come
true…..
“TAKE ME AWAY”
Subsequently, Devi went
to Mexico where she recorded her first completely
Spanish-language CD, replete with songs that she had
always loved. It was well received and enjoyed some
popularity back in the USA. Devi began to compose her
own songs in both English and Spanish, sometimes
separately and sometimes in both languages, From there
she made her way to New York, where she recorded here
first professional CD, “Take Me Away" released last
August.
The CD sports eleven songs, three of them by the diva
herself. One of them is a cumbia melody that Devi loves,
to which |
she set
English-language lyrics, whilst the The CD is a tantalizing linguistic and
multicultural mixture, containing rhythms
of many countries. Devi Rosado has performed as opening act in the concerts
of top-billed start such as Celia Cruz and La India in
Stabler Arena, Allentown, Pennsylvania. In the same
vein, she has also done the opening honors for Hispanic
comedians such as Paul Rodriguez in the Fernwood Resort in
Bushkill, Pennsylvania. She has headlined presentations
in the Paramount Theatre in Middletown New York, as well
as local charity functions, and a special appearance in
the popular “Acting Studio Playhouse” in Forest City,
Pennsylvania.
MOTHER, SINGER AND
BUSINESS WOMAN
The mother of three
children who are now all university students, Devi has
been both housewife and business woman. Among their many
activities, Devi and her husband are owners of a number
of automobile outlets in Pennsylvania; they also run a
hotel in Mexico. At the same time, they promote other
musicians in the concert framework. Nonetheless, Devi
has not betrayed her passion for music. As she makes
clear, she loves to sing, put on shows, and take her
voice, which she defines as her orchestral instrument,
to far-away lands. She describes her sound as positive,
tropical, filed with dynamism and spice. Devi Rosado is
a singer who has managed to intertwine English and
Spanish on a superb CD. As her web page states, (www.devirosado.com):
“My music is tu musica.”
